Over 200 New Apprentices, Graduates, and Interns Join Tata Steel UK
This week, more than 200 apprentices, graduates, and interns are taking their first steps into one of the UK’s most dynamic industries, joining 8,000 other colleagues at Tata Steel UK.
The company, part of the globally respected Tata Group—which includes iconic brands such as Jaguar Land Rover, Tetley Tea, and Taj Hotels—is targeting carbon net-zero by 2045. With sites across England and Wales, including Hartlepool, Corby, Wednesfield, Shotton, Catnic, Trostre, Port Talbot, and Llanwern, Tata Steel UK has a proud tradition of recruiting the brightest talent to drive its success.
Chief HR Officer Chris Jaques commented:
This is always one of the most exciting weeks of the year for us as we welcome another cohort of talented individuals to help us to innovate, invest, develop, and collaborate in an industry which is not only the foundation of UK manufacturing but also underpins communities across the country.
Chris added:
Undoubtedly, our industry faces many challenges, not least to decarbonise steelmaking and to continue contributing to a future green economy. To achieve this, we need an energetic, challenging, innovative, and creative workforce – and every year, our new graduates, apprentices, and interns act as catalysts for proactive and positive change.
After a comprehensive business-wide induction, the graduates and interns will move into roles across operations, engineering, technical disciplines, R&D, and business functions such as HR, Commercial, and Finance. Meanwhile, operational and engineering apprentices will begin formal skills training in-house or at local colleges.

This group will be stepping into the amazing world of steel. As they become more involved, they will realise that this industry not only fascinates but demands innovation, determination, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. These new starters are now part of our steel family, and the opportunities ahead of them are extremely exciting.
