The CDT in DigitalMetal is an exciting 4-year PhD programme designed to train future leaders equipped with combined expertise in metals and alloy engineering, digital technology, and AI. Led by the University of Leicester, in partnership with the Universities of Birmingham, Loughborough, Nottingham, and Warwick, this CDT focuses on transforming the metals and manufacturing industry using digital technology to enhance agility, productivity, and international competitiveness. As a PhD student, you will engage in cutting-edge research across various themes, collaborate with world-leading industrial partners, and develop a broad foundation in manufacturing management, product development, leadership, and personal development skills. You will be registered with a host university among the five leading institutions throughout your studies and will have equivalent access to a broad range of resources, including courses and training offered by all five universities in the CDT.
