EDC PROTECTION
About us
EDC Protection is the market leader in France for personal protective equipment (PPE) designed to protect personnel working in extreme heat conditions.
Founded in 1935 in the heart of a steel region, the company began to specialise in the design and manufacture of PPE in 1989. For more than 30 years, the employees of EDC Protection have shared a common desire: deliver reliable, good-quality protection to professionals working in very demanding environments whilst preserving a French know-how that is recognised worldwide.
By opting for a merger in 2001 with the DMD FRANCE Group, a leading player in the European market for men’s work clothing, EDC Protection has acquired new investment, research, production and logistics capacities. The synergy between the companies within the Group means that we now offer the widest range of products in the field of work and protective clothes.
Since its creation, EDC PROTECTION has continued to develop, operate and innovate to become the emblematic French manufacturer of PPE against thermal risks.
Our activity has gradually turned towards exports, and this international position now puts in a position where we can spread our “Made in France” know-how beyond our borders.

Aluminised Clothing
In order to ensure optimal protection and meet normative requirements, EDC Protection's aluminised garments and personal protective equipment are manufactured with innovative components in our French facility in Noviant-aux-Prés. A thin layer of Aluminium foil to reflect infra-red radiation and therefore reflect radiant heat away from the wearer. It also prevents the adhesion of splashes of molten metal, which roll down the garments and fall onto the ground, Secondly, an aluminium foil backing with varying composition and texture offers the possibility of aluminised PPE with varying levels of performance: insulating properties, splash resistance, comfort, etc., An inside lining, in most cases, which provides double thermal insulation with an air cushion created with the aluminised fabric. To design and manufacture aluminised garments that are best suited to the workstations of wearers and the constraints of their jobs, EDC Protection makes its garments and PPE In various aluminised materials.

Welding Leathers and Accessories
Our personal protective equipment for welding, flame cutting and related techniques is made of high quality grain leather or HTR crust leather. The HTR (high temperature resistance) treatment stops the leather from shrinking after repeated exposure to heat. This means that the leather garments keep their suppleness. All our protective garments and welding accessories are EN ISO 11611 class 2 and therefore protect welders against metal splashes and higher radiant heat. For complete protection against the risks encountered by welders, EDC Protection manufactures accessories to complement the clothing in order to protect the head, face, hands and feet (welding hood, face protection, gloves, gaiters, oversleeves, welding cushion, etc.).

Melt Master Multi Risk Jacket and Trouser
he MELT MASTER collection has been designed to meet the extreme risks of molten metal splashes, and is the culmination of a long research and development project carried out jointly by the DMD France and EDC Protection teams. This multi-risk garment combines EDC Protection's long experience in thermal hazards with DMD France's long-standing expertise in the design of professional clothing. Research, business analysis, materials sourcing, sketches, samples: at every stage of the process, our design team's main objective was to combine quality, robustness and comfort, all with an innovative look. Meeting the EN ISO 11612 D3E3 standard, the MELT MASTER range has all the attributes needed to become the benchmark in the thermal trades sector. A major innovation, this range is approved to EN 17353 B2 (protection against the risk of non-visibility in the dark), ensuring maximum protection in low-visibility industrial environments. It is also suitable for ATEX zones.

Molten Metal/Aluminium clothing and accessories
EDC Protection's aluminised garments and accessories for molten aluminium are made from a technical fabric consisting of cotton, F-acrylic and FR flame-retardant viscose. Aluminised + PPE is made from a fabric consisting of cotton, F-acrylic, FR flame-retardant viscose, para-aramid and carbon. Alu and Alu + garments are distinguished not only by the composition of their fabric but also by their level of performance in accordance with the EN 11612 standard on indices D and E. Indeed, Alu + garments offer the maximum performance of 3 for the D (molten aluminium projections) and E (molten metal splash) indices against 2 for Alu garments. This range of personal protective equipment is specifically designed to protect against thermal risks from contact with or splashing of molten aluminium and molten metal. Jackets, trousers, coveralls, caps, oversleeves and hoods are available.

High Heat Gloves/Mittens
In order to choose the right heat protection glove for the thermal risks involved, it is useful and important to ask yourself three questions:What is the contact temperature? Knowing the temperature of the parts makes it possible to select the glove's material: leather, aramids, fibreglass, chain mail. What is the contact time? The insulation capacity is primarily dependent on the inside lining. EDC Protection offers several materials and lining thicknesses for its thermal protection gloves. Thickness is important for insulation but, the thicker it is, the less space there is for the fingers. Therefore, mittens are more often used for thermal protection.Does the back-of-the-hand have to be protected? During welding operations or when skimming molten material, it is the top of the glove that has to provide the protection from the radiant heat or hot splashes.Don’t hesitate to contact us to determine the most appropriate protection based on these factors.

Visors and Carriers
EDC Protection's rigid polycarbonate visors fit our universal bracket for optimum face protection. Clear, gold metallic, green tinted or gold tinted, with or without a chin strap, we offer different versions of anti-scratch treated polycarbonate visors. Polycarbonate can withstand continuous heat up to 135°C, beyond which it is advisable to turn to our gold Triplex mineral glass, which is present in some of our aluminised face protectors.
