Our company
Van Leeuwen is a globally operating trading company and specialist in steel pipes and pipe and tube applications. The company is headquartered in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands, and globally active with 77 offices and warehouse locations in 33 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and North America. The family-owned company was founded in 1924 by Pieter van Leeuwen. With a history of over a century as a specialised business partner, we live up to our promise of delivering ‘More than tubes.’. The company has 2,500 employees worldwide who have specialist knowledge of sourcing, processing, stock planning, project management and logistics. Our passion is to create the best value, working closely together with customers in various segments in the industry and energy markets.
More than tubes
Van Leeuwen’s core business consists of the trade in steel pipes and related products. This is how the company began in 1924 as a sole trader in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands. Since then we have evolved into a company that goes far beyond this. With more products and services, as well as a global network of close to eighty largely stock-keeping branches in 33 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Australia, Asia and North America. With specialist knowledge of logistics processes, stock planning and project management. With knowledge and expertise in the area of applying our products and services in various markets and industries. This is why we can rightly say: Van Leeuwen offers far more than just pipes and tubes.
Sustainability
We developed our 2022-2025 sustainability strategy in 2021. The question of how Van Leeuwen can create value in sustainable ways, now and in the future, is the key focus of this strategy. The strategy focuses on four themes: Climate Action, People, Growth, and Partners & Suppliers. We make our sustainability objectives measurable as much as possible; we consider the entire value chain in this respect.
In January 2025 we were awarded the EcoVadis Silver medal which puts us in the top 15% of sustainable companies in the industry sector. Our rating was slightly below the top 5% Gold category, therefore it is “Silver with golden glow”. A clear indication that we are on our way to be the greenest pipe and tube distributor in the world before 2030.

Stainless Steel Tubes
Van Leeuwen stock a range of seamless tubes to EN10216-5 TC1/TC2, available in both bright annealed and alternative annealed/pickled finishes. Tolerances are in accordance with ISO 1127 and EN10305-1, covering grades 1.4307, 1.4541, 1.4404, and 1.4571 and welded tubes in EN10217-7 TC1/TC2 and the alternative EN10296-2, available in grades 1.4307, 1.4404, and 1.4432. Bars
Van Leeuwen offers a diverse selection of bars tailored for the engineering and automotive sectors, which require high standards of measurement precision, machinability, and uniform quality to ensure consistent performance throughout processing, from one delivery to the next. The company maintains an inventory of bars in various steel grades and is actively expanding its product offerings. The bar selection encompasses steel varieties in rolled, peeled, cold-drawn, rough-turned, and ground forms. As a family-owned company, Van Leeuwen takes its responsibility for the environment and society to contribute to a sustainable future of our company and the world. This is integrated in our strategy. As market leader, we take the lead in setting the standard for more sustainable steel products to help our customers reduce their CO2 footprint. To achieve this, we work together with innovative steel mills who have the same mission, in order to improve the sustainability of production processes and end products together. This results in building a stock of CO2 reduced pipe and tube material, which we sell under our own sustainability brand Van Leeuwen Impact.
