About us
HLC is an engineering and manufacturing company with a long-standing history of supplying up to 10,000 tonnes of high-quality cast and machined components a year to customers internationally.
Our foundry operation dates back to 1974, with our machine shop established in 1996. Since then, we have supplied castings and machined compressor components to Sanyo, Zanussi, Embraco, Hitachi and Panasonic, building a long-term relationship based on consistent quality, technical capability and reliable service.
Today, the business remains family-owned and managed across three generations, combining decades of manufacturing experience with modern technology and continuous investment.
Our manufacturing facilities in Huludao, northeast China, employ over 100 people across the foundry and machine shop. The foundry specialises in grey and ductile iron castings, supported by modern greensand moulding technology, including DISA Matic and DISA Match automated production lines. Our foundry has also embraced digitalisation through the Monitizer system, while our sand plant uses the DISA SMC online monitoring system to maintain consistent sand quality and process control.
Our machining operation provides strong in-house manufacturing capability, with more than 100 CNC lathes and vertical machining centres. This allows us to offer customers an integrated casting and machining solution, from raw casting through to fully machined components.
Quality and process control are central to our operation. HLC is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, covering quality management, environmental management, and occupational health and safety. Our testing capabilities include C-Si analysis, optical spectrometry, metallurgical microscope, hardness, tensile and CMM inspection, providing comprehensive control of material composition, mechanical strength, dimensional accuracy and product quality.
Over the years, we have manufactured grey and ductile iron components for a wide range of demanding applications, including rotary and scroll compressors, high-speed rail, construction machinery, agricultural machinery, hydraulic valves, wheel hubs and brake drums.
Although our manufacturing operations are located in China, HLC provides UK-based contact and support, giving customers the benefit of direct communication and local commercial support while accessing our established manufacturing capabilities in China.
