Back in February, we brought together leaders from across the UK Steel Supply Chain with the aim of trying to understand each other better, the next steps for implementing green steel in the UK, and how to better build and support the assembled and wider network.

The high-level consideration that were identified during the event include:

• Commercial viability and market considerations

• Addressing the scrap supply challenge

• Government and policy support

• Innovation and investment in supply chains

• Overcoming the barriers to decarbonisation

• Competition and global alignment

As Jon Bolton, Co-Chair of the Steel Council said, “We are at a turning point for the steel industry in the UK. Given the challenges that are taking place this is all about trying to find a way to secure a future for the steel sector in the UK”.
