UK CBAM : Moving from Uncertainty to Readiness

Jonas Metals Software is working with carbon and cost management specialists Auditel to prepare our customers and our software for the introduction of UK CBAM on 1 January 2027.
Rather than developing around assumptions while the legislation was still evolving, we waited for greater regulatory clarity and brought together Auditel's CBAM expertise with our knowledge of metals operations.
Our work is looking beyond simply producing a CBAM report. Readiness starts much earlier, with the information captured as material moves through purchasing, import, goods inwards, stock, processing, traceability and despatch.
For metals businesses this can include commodity codes, country of origin, mills and installations, cast information, customs information, emissions data and supporting documentation. Much of this foundation already exists within Jonas ERP Systems, including commodity codes, mill and country-of-origin information and cast-level traceability.
Our programme therefore combines iMetal development with customer data readiness – helping businesses understand what information they already hold, identify gaps and prepare their processes before January.
CBAM will also introduce a new cost and another area of uncertainty for metals businesses. Over time, understanding CBAM exposure can support better purchasing, costing, pricing and margin decisions.
Our objective is simple: customers shouldn't reach January with just new software functionality. They should have the data, processes and understanding required to be ready for UK CBAM.
Meet Jonas Metals Software and Auditel at the UK Metals Expo to discuss what UK CBAM could mean for your business.
