Heat-treatable Steel
27MnCrB5-2, 30MnB5 and 38MnB5 and other boron-alloyed steels
There are many ways we, Specialty Steel, can serve you with service and support. We are eager to work with you to build the optimal supply chain. Whether it's availability from stock, JIT or call-off scenarios, or even processed sheets, let’s find out just how far our collaboration can go.
Boron steel is the generic name for boron-alloyed steels. These steels are hardenable through a heat treatment process. Hardness is created by heating the product to a high temperature and then quenching it in water, water-polymer solution, or oil, to room temperature. In certain cases, a tempering treatment (low-temperature annealing) may be performed after quenching to achieve the right balance between hardness and toughness. These properties ultimately determine the product's wear and impact resistance, and thus its service life.
27MnCrB5-2 is alloyed with manganese (Mn), chromium (Cr), and boron (B), among other materials, and can achieve a hardness of approximately 510 HBW (50 HRC).
Let us create the optimal supply chain, for you, with you.
Specialty Steel offers standard-size sheet from stock. Based on our coil inventory, we can supply your specific lengths with short lead times. Are you looking for solutions for JIT or call-off deliveries? Or can we assist you with subcontracted cutting and bending services?
