Dr Lucy Smith is an accomplished leader in industrial innovation and sustainability, currently serving as Co-Director of FISC (Foundation Industries Sustainability Consortium) and FIVe (Foundation Industries Venture), as well as Commercial Strategy Manager at Glass Futures Ltd. With a strong background in strategic development and cross-sector collaboration, Lucy plays a pivotal role in driving transformative change across the UK’s foundation industries.

Lucy holds a PhD in Sustainable Materials from Sheffield University and a MBA from Teesside University, complementing her deep technical expertise with a strong foundation in the commercial aspects of the innovation journey.

Through her leadership at FISC and FIVe, Lucy champions collaborative innovation, bringing together academia, industry, and government to tackle systemic challenges in energy use, resource efficiency, and emissions reduction. Her strategic vision and commitment to impact have positioned her as a key figure in shaping the future of sustainable manufacturing.

Her work bridges the gap between innovation and implementation, ensuring that sustainable technologies are both commercially viable and scalable.
