Primetals Technologies Launches the Latest Smart Guide Solution for the Long Rolling Industry

Primetals Technologies has introduced its patented Advanced Roller Guides, a next-generation monitoring and control solution for long rolling mills, combining proven Morgan and Ashlow guide technology with smart sensing capabilities. Designed for rod and bar mills, the system improves safety, reliability, productivity, and product quality by continuously monitoring critical guide functions including section height, alignment, roller condition, speed, and impact trends.

Advanced Roller Guides help reduce alignment issues, cobbles, unplanned downtime, and manual intervention while supporting predictive maintenance and more consistent mill performance. Wireless communication enables operators to remotely monitor guide conditions and section height measurements, reducing the need for manual inspections and improving safety by limiting exposure to hazardous mill environments.
