I joined the University in 2019 and was appointed Professor in Digital and Sustainable Metallurgy in 2024. I hold a PhD in Metallurgy from the University of Cambridge and an MEng degree in Aerospace Materials Engineering from Imperial College London.
My research bridges high performance alloy design and advanced manufacturing. Throughout my career I have worked at the interface between industry and academia, delivering meaningful metallurgical insights, and was recognised in 2022 by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining with the Grünfeld medal for the application of metals to industry. In further recognition of my standing I lead the Advanced Metals Processing research area for the Henry Royce Institute, the UK’s National Institute for Advanced Materials Research.
