UK Steel CEOs Roundtable

CEOs of Tata Steel UK, British Steel, 7 Steel UK and Sheffield Forgemasters will discuss and debate the future of British industry at UK Metals Expo 2026 at NEC Birmingham on 4th & 5th November.

Rajesh Nair, CEO of Tata Steel UK; Allan Bell, Interim CEO of British Steel; Carles Rovira, CEO of 7 Steel UK; and Gary Nutter, CEO of Sheffield Forgemasters will join the “Steel CEOs Roundtable: Reindustrialisation, Trade and National Growth”, chaired by Alice Hancock, Global Shipping and Industry Correspondent at the Financial Times.

The four businesses occupy important positions in the UK industrial economy. Decisions around government involvement, investment, trade and energy have consequences far beyond the steel sector, affecting manufacturers, engineering businesses, infrastructure projects and companies throughout the supply chain.

The discussion comes at a critical time for the future of UK steel. Trade policy, industrial electricity costs, procurement rules and investment in domestic production are all part of the debate about how the UK maintains strategically important industrial capability and supports wider manufacturing growth.

With leaders from four major businesses on the same stage, the roundtable will provide an opportunity to hear directly from those making decisions about the sector’s future, the pressures they face and what reindustrialisation could mean in practice for the wider UK economy.

Lord Redesdale, Chair of UK Metals Expo, said:

“Bringing the leaders of Tata Steel UK, British Steel, 7 Steel UK and Sheffield Forgemasters together gives us a valuable opportunity to hear how they see the future of UK industry.

“But this is about much more than steel. Decisions on industrial capacity, trade, energy and investment have direct consequences for manufacturers, engineering businesses and the wider supply chain. They affect the cost and availability of materials, the resilience of supply and the UK’s ability to support its own industrial base.”

The Steel CEOs Roundtable: Reindustrialisation, Trade and National Growth takes place at 10.30am on Thursday 5 November 2026 in Theatre 1 at UK Metals Expo, The NEC Birmingham.
