The Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3) is a professional membership organisation and registered charity, governed by a Royal Charter. Formed in 2002 from the merger of the Institute of Materials and the Institution of Mining and Metallurgy, we trace our origins back to the Iron and Steel Institute of 1869.

IOM3 is a leading global body for those interested in materials science, engineering, and technology, covering everything from exploration and extraction to processing, application, recycling, and reuse.

We help professionals in materials science, mining, and minerals achieve chartered status and recognise their skills through registration with the Engineering Council, Science Council, and Society for the Environment.

We also offer mentoring workshops for members aiming for professional registration. We focus on providing flexible services, high-quality technical resources, and great value.
